![]() If the First Baptist Church building in Polk, Nebraska could speak, who knows what incredible stories we would hear. While the church was founded in the late 1800's, the photo at left captures the building that was built back in 1912. In July I took a trip through Nebraska meeting with seven churches and a handful of families to share RMCChurch's ministry vision and financial goals. It was a special honor to stop into the town of Polk and chat with Rob, a deacon at First Baptist. It was wonderful to hear about an existing church and the richness of its vast gospel history. And it was God's doing to have the 100-plus-year-old church want to help the newborn church plant in KC. I'll be going back in late August to preach and share what God is doing in KC. Jesus' Church started about 2,000 years ago with his life coming to an end on a cross as the final sin sacrifice; Jesus rising from the dead and ascending to Heaven. He then sent the Holy Spirit to give spiritual life to his disciples starting the Church. Jesus sent out his empowered disciples to go preach the Gospel and make disciples. That's how the Church grew. To this day, Jesus' Church is living, active and growing daily by all people who come to Jesus by faith and through grace. We are following God's leading just like First Baptist in Polk, NE did over a hundred years ago by starting River Market Community Church allowing Jesus to grow his eternal Church one person at a time. We are plugging into God's Story!
