An acquaintance of mine named Andrew showed up at our worship gathering this month. He was hurting and in desperate need of Jesus. He walked up and gave me a huge hug, and we went straight to a small room to talk. He shared some past experiences, his heart's need for God and his doubts that God would accept him for what he has done. The eight-year journey of being a marine sniper has taken its tole on Andrew's mind, heart and soul. I shared the gospel, and he stated that if he didn't re-dedicate his life to Christ he would end up dead like some of his veteran friends. Andrew chose Jesus and we prayed together, giving thanks to our Father!

Andrew is now in the process of becoming made new by following Jesus, learning obedience to the Father and receiving healing by the Holy Spirit. We are now working together so love in his heart can increase. We want healing of the soul and transformation of the mind! One of the biggest breakthroughs is that Andrew has found out that God is big enough that he can take everything to Jesus including his explosive rage. God can transform it and Andrew. God is working a miracle of turning Andrew's ashes into beauty.

Andrew desires and is actively seeking to help other veterans and friends of his who have fought for their country but have returned empty and hurting. For so many their experiences lead to consumption of drugs and alcohol as a numbing agent. Andrew believes that Jesus is the hope and healing that we need for a restored and whole life.
... and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."
