[Principles Applied & Lived Out]
What is the Gospel? Simply, the gospel of grace: We are sinners saved by Jesus' works and not our own works for relationship with God.
Jesus' work and ministry continues with the Holy Spirit being sent down starting the Church. What is it that makes this group of people different? They are a Gospel People, Community Driven and living on mission with Jesus! They are devoted to God, to each other and to the spreading of the Gospel.
In their devotion they are united by two things:
1) Their new Gospel Identity in Jesus.
2) Their Gospel Purpose
Our identity is the driver of everything we do. As followers of Jesus, we are new creations with a new identity (2 Cor. 5:17). Over the next several months in our Worship Gatherings and Missional Communities we will be discussing our Gospel identities and how actions should flow out of that.
Three New and True Gospel identities we are gifted include:
Family- We are children of Father God who love one another as family
Servants- We are servants of King Jesus committed to serving others
Missionary- We are Holy Spirit-filled missionaries sent as disciples to make disciples.
At this worship gathering, the focus was Our Sacrificial King Jesus in whom we are united as humble servants of God. Jesus emptied himself of reputation, privileges and rightful dignity to become a man. As a man he humbled himself to obedience of God the Father. Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit and carried out the Father's will which led to him to lay down his life for sinners. He rose from death and calls his people to him to repent and trust in the Gospel so that they may have life. Jesus tells his disciples to live an abundant life as he did, as a servant of God.
As you work through this, may God strengthen and spiritually empower you in your inner being! In 2016 RMCC hopes to become better at existing for and through the gospel, living on mission & in community!

[ACT, REFINE AND REVIEW follow-up assignments]
Just as Jesus prepared his disciples, as we walk through the beginning of Acts, we've be doing some different follow-up assignments that will prepare us as disciples to be empowered witnesses and storytellers!
[WE EXIST through and for the Gospel]
The gospel is a message of good news that is clearly laid out in the Bible, God's word; so the church must be word-centered. It is a word that transforms us, moves through us and rings out into our communities.
In the next week spend time in some or all of the supplemental passages and questions:

2) Living Out Our Servant Identity with Others-

[WE LIVE on a mission]
The gospel is a missional word; so the church must be mission-centered. We find ourselves in many relationships with all different kinds of people. We become comfortable in the way the relationship operates and become complacent in getting to know each other in deeper ways. It is good for our own growth and the growth of our relationships to talk of deeper matters including passions, dreams, emotions, politics and spiritual beliefs.
[WE ARE in and through community]
The gospel is people focused; it creates the Church and the Church is a family that is community-centered
