At River Market Community Church we desire to be a group of people plugging into God's Story.
To Plug into God's Story we are to be gospel, mission and community centered. To help us in our journey of becoming centered in such a way, we apply and live out principles and truths found in the Bible.
WHAT is the gospel? Simply, the gospel of grace: We are sinners saved by Jesus' works and not our own works for relationship with God.
Principles Applied & Lived Out- Becoming Centered:
YOUR GOAL IS TO FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING OVER THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS
When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed... This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.” (Matthew 8:1-3, 17 ESV)
NO matter the sickness or person's affiliation, the guilt or corruption of heart, gender or status in society healing is available to all.
To approach Jesus in humility and with faith we see great mercy and grace lavished upon all people including us. While on the earth Jesus is moved with compassion to perform miracles and help all people who come to him.
At the cross where Jesus gave himself up, we see the greatest work of Jesus which rings throughout eternity setting people free and giving everlasting life to all who believe.
We see in Jesus' teachings and actions that the term 'outcasts' has no place in his kingdom. Human society has systems setup to perpetuate the idea of self righteousness which has resulted in people being labeled as 'outcasts.' One reason Jesus came to Earth was to bring hope, healing, acceptance and life to those that society has labeled as 'outcasts' or oppressed into believing they are outcasts. We as followers of Jesus need to live on mission to combat this injustice. We should live and love as if there are no outcasts.
...BE HEALED AND LOVE THE OUTCASTS...
-WE EXIST Through and For the Gospel
The gospel is a message of good news that is clearly laid out in the Bible, God's word; so the church must be word-centered.
-WE LIVE On A Mission
The gospel is a missional word; so the church must be mission-centered.
-WE ARE In and Through Community
The gospel is people focused; it creates the Church and the Church is a family that is community-centered.
To help us wrestle with God's Word and engage as a community, answer these questions prior to the next Saturday evening worship gathering.
